Lost skier rescued after hours in below freezing temperatures

EDEN — A lone skier survived below-freezing temperatures after he became lost for several hours near Powder Mountain Resort late Friday.
The skier, who became lost at about 6:30 p.m. and was found just after midnight, had sent text messages to his wife, telling her to call for help because he was lost, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office. The wife contacted ski patrolers, who then contacted the man and determined his whereabouts.
When search and rescue arrived to the area called "Lefties," they found multiple tracks leading different places, but eventually located the man, who was calling for help and complained of being cold, police said.
Temperatures were well below freezing Friday night and into Saturday.
The man and the search team were flown out of the area to safety and the man was examined by emergency personnel. Weber County reported the man had some possible frostbite on his feet, but was otherwise expected to be OK.
